Calgary Water Supply Alert Lifted
City Still Urges Residents to Conserve Water
The City of Calgary has lifted the critical water supply alert that was issued on Thursday morning. The alert was put in place after a water main break on 16th Avenue NW caused a significant drop in water pressure in the city's southwest.
Crews worked throughout the night to repair the water main, and water pressure has now been restored to normal levels. However, the city is still urging residents to conserve water as the system recovers.
Residents are asked to:
- Take shorter showers
- Wash dishes by hand
- Water lawns less frequently
- Check for and repair any leaks
The city is also asking businesses to conserve water by:
- Reducing the number of times they water their lawns
- Using low-flow appliances
- Recycling water whenever possible
The city will continue to monitor the water system and will provide updates as needed.
