Water Main Break Impacts City's Water Supply

Citywide Water Restrictions in Effect

Conserve Water Now to Avoid Critical Shortages

A major water main break in northwest Calgary has prompted a boil water advisory for the area and water restrictions for all Calgarians. The break has impacted the city's water supply, leading to critical supply levels. Residents are urged to conserve water immediately to help reduce demand and prevent further disruptions.

The break occurred along 16 Avenue NW on Wednesday evening. City officials have confirmed the location and are working to repair the damage. However, the repairs are expected to take several hours, and water supply levels may remain low in the meantime.

As a result, the city has implemented Stage 4 outdoor water restrictions, which prohibit all outdoor water use. Residents are asked to stop watering lawns, washing cars, and filling pools to minimize demand on the city's water system.

A boil water advisory has also been issued for the affected area in northwest Calgary. Residents in this area are advised to boil their water for at least one minute before consuming it. The advisory will remain in effect until further notice.

The city urges all residents to conserve water now to avoid further critical shortages. Every drop saved helps maintain essential water services for the city.
