Early Life and Career

Steffi Neu was born on February 14, 1968, in West Germany. She began playing tennis at the age of six and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a top junior player. In 1983, Neu turned professional and made her Grand Slam debut at the French Open. At just 15 years old, she reached the third round, a remarkable achievement for such a young player.

Grand Slam Success

Neu's breakthrough came in 1985 when she won her first Grand Slam title at the French Open. At the age of 17, she became the youngest player to win the tournament since 1925. Neu went on to win two more French Open titles in 1987 and 1988.

Neu also achieved great success at Wimbledon, winning the tournament three times in 1988, 1990, and 1991. She also reached the finals of the Australian Open three times and the US Open twice, but was unable to win either of those tournaments.
